Autumn is undeniably gathering pace with shorter days and longer nights and a chilly drop in temperature. Thankfully, we have the remedy to cure any hibernation urges as there are lots of new starts at Vineyard 53!
This past week we had an incredibly successful launch of our weekly English Café. Well over twenty people whose first language is not English came along for a warm welcome, a cup of tea and a snack, and the opportunity to practice their English in creative and fun ways.

Small Groups have started back. We’re enjoying welcoming new people into community, learning more about God and having fun together. We meet in various places throughout Chester and North Wales. Click here for more information. Last Sunday, we had a Small Groups Sunday and we met as small groups for brunch (bacon was on the menu at most small groups).
Our monthly ‘Church Has Left the Building’ was a real giggle as we put up our bright red gazebo along the route of the Chester Marathon! We gave away balloons, flags, chocolate and drinks to those watching and even to some weary runners as they approached their final half mile. As the runners’ strips had their names on, we surprised them by cheering them on by nameJ
It’s great to know someone who knows someone who cuts hair! One of our team’s Mums came to Girls Night In at a local women’s shelter and spent the evening cutting hair whilst others did manicures. Another evening ‘Colouring for Grown-ups’ and face-masks was the theme for the Girls Night In. We all found it quite amazing how therapeutic a bit of colouring can be.
We are super excited to have acquired some lovely office space within the Chester Business Park which we will be sharing with another Chester based charity. We are dreaming of the possibilities that are ahead of us as we put the space to good use. Along with it being our admin base, we will be starting a day time small group in November and are also looking for opportunities to be a blessing to those who work at the Business Park.

We’ve been welcoming students into the city in a variety of ways – Student lunches being top of the bill after our Sunday gatherings – and we’re planning a large event with inflatable fun(!) at the end of the month.
On Sunday's we've been exploring Jesus' parables. Click here for a listen.

Coming up:
We have a Marriage Preparation course coming up in November. A baptism service in a couple of weeks time, a new short term Small Group based around the Prayer Course as well as all the usual activities and more.
The festive season is speedily approaching and for starters, plans are beginning to be put in place for a Thanksgiving Dinner, Beer and Carols, a Carol Service and a Christmas Party at a local shelter. We’ll also be back at the Chester Christmas Market doing our free Christmas craft for children.
