Our Values

We have four core values. These underpin the way we pursue the vision God has given us. We seek to do everything in a way that is relational and compassionate, that looks outward and which exercises big faith.

Outward Looking

We believe the church should also exist for the sake of its non-members and that we should have a positive, substantial impact on the communities around us whenever we can.

Compassion

The Bible and the life of Jesus suggests that God's heart is biased towards the poor. As a church we want to meet the needs of those in our city and further afield.

Relationships

We want to develop open, honest relationships with one another, where we can know others well and be known ourselves. We hope strong relationships will create a sense of community amongst us where all are welcome.

Big Faith

Faith is spelt R.I.S.K. We want to be a community who are known for taking bold and daring risks for God. We want to pray for the sick and step out to see our region transformed.

We also value…

  • We believe the church should have a wide door - it should be easy for people to come and be part of our community. We want people to come as they are and be themselves, wherever they are at in their faith journey.

  • As God's word this is vital in all that we do. It teaches us about the character of God, how He has interacted with His people in the past and His promises for His people today. The Bible tells us about Jesus, His life and what He is passionate about. As we read the Bible and apply it to our lives it shapes and forms us and we start to see the world around us from God's perspective.

  • Jesus was a man of action as well as a man of words. We want to do the stuff that he did, not just read about it.

  • Our worship is for and to God. It should be authentic and non-hyped.

  • Through prayer we can offer him thanksgiving, say we are sorry when we need to and ask God to provide for us. We believe that prayer should be at the heart of all we do as a church and as individuals as we seek to follow Him and know Him more.

  • We believe that everyone who belongs to the church gets to use their gifts and we invite everyone to get stuck in within the life of the church and be part of what we do.

  • We want to shape culture and find new ways to express and live out our faith, whilst remaining true to what we believe.

  • We welcome the Holy Spirit and expect that He will meet with us when we ask Him to. However, we can do this in a manner which is non-hyped and clearly explained to the church as a whole. We call this being 'naturally supernatural'.

  • The kingdom of God is God's rule and reign. Whilst we see God's kingdom breaking through in the present (for example, in acts of healing) we also await the day when God's kingdom will be fully present and established.

  • We believe the church should exist to reach out to people and change communities. As it does this we would expect it to grow. We support church planting as a way of growing into new communities and areas of the UK.
