Pray

Prayer is a key part of our relationship with God.

Prayer is a two way conversation; God always hears our prayers and is ready to respond. Prayer enables partnership. God wants to work with us and through us. Prayer is a powerful force for transforming ourselves, our community and the world.

Pray with others

Pray Alone

We develop relationships with our friends through speaking and listening to them. It is the same way with God. Through speaking to him and listening to him our relationship with him is deepened and we become more connected with Him.

Learn to Pray

Prayer can seem scary, but there’s lots of great content out there to help. Here’s a few places to start.

  • This book calls itself ‘A Simple Guide for Normal People’ and we think it’s just that. Buy a copy here.

  • An eight week course exploring the Lord’s prayer. This is a great course to do in a small group. You can find it here.

  • When praying on our own, the acronym ACTS can be helpful.

    A - Adoration
Telling God how much we love him and honour him is a great way to start our prayer time.

    C - Confession
Telling God about things we have done wrong and saying sorry.

    T - Thanksgiving
Saying thank you for the good things God has done for us, things that we enjoy or prayers that have been answered.

    S - Supplication
Asking God for what we want, no matter how large or small either for ourselves or for others.

  • When praying for someone else, this can be a helpful tool.

    1. Listen to the person – ask them what they want prayer for.

    2. Listen to God – ask God what he is saying about the situation.

    3. Choose a prayer to use – healing, intercession, for someone to start a relationship with Jesus.

    4. Pray – Pray!

    5. Next Steps – ask how the person felt. Any follow up?
